Terms of use

Effective September 25, 2026. These terms apply when you use the Boldly app. Boldly is sold on the App Store by Lucent Enterprises Ltd. ("we").

Apple's licence agreement

Your use of Boldly is covered by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. These terms add to it. If they conflict, Apple's agreement applies.

Free lessons

Your first lesson is free. Then you get one free lesson a day for the first 7 days after you first open the app. Free lessons have a fair-use limit on tutor turns.

Plans and free trials

• Boldly offers a weekly plan and a yearly plan, bought through the App Store. The price in your country is shown before you pay.
• The weekly plan has a 7-day free trial if you have not had a Boldly trial before. The yearly plan has no free trial.
• Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase, or when the free trial ends.
• A plan renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• If you cancel during the free trial, you are not charged. If you do not cancel, the trial becomes a paid weekly plan.
• Manage or cancel your plan in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone, or in Boldly: Settings → Manage or cancel your plan.
• Apple handles payments and refunds. To ask for a refund, go to reportaproblem.apple.com.
• Plans include fair use: a limit on how many tutor turns you can use per minute and per day, to keep Boldly working for everyone.

The AI tutor

• Your tutor's answers, corrections, "Help me answer" sentences and scenes are written by AI (OpenAI's models). They can be wrong, sound unnatural, or miss a mistake. Use your own judgement.
• "Clear" means the listener understood each word. It is not a grade and not a judgement of your accent.
• Boldly is practice. It is not a certified English course, an exam or a language test, and it does not give you a certificate or an official level.
• Do not say or type private information that you do not want sent to the tutor, like passwords, card numbers or health details.

Your part

• Use Boldly for your own English practice, following the law and these terms.
• Do not try to break, overload or copy the service, or use it to make harmful content.
• We may limit or stop access for misuse.

How Boldly handles your data is in the Privacy policy.

Changes and availability

We may change Boldly or these terms. If the terms change, we will update this page and the date at the top. Boldly needs an internet connection for lessons, and it may sometimes be unavailable.
